NVIDIA has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Run:ai, a Kubernetes-based workload management and orchestration software provider. While the value of the terms of the deal has not been disclosed, Isreali newspaper, Calcalist estimated the value of the transaction at $700 million. The acquisition is set to enhance NVIDIA's AI technology capabilities and diversify its revenue streams, reflecting the company's commitment to expanding its offerings beyond chips to software.
Run:ai was founded in 2018 by Omri Geller and Ronen Dar. The company's platform simplifies the management and optimization of AI hardware infrastructure, enabling efficient use of computing resources across shared accelerated computing infrastructure. The platform provides a centralized interface for managing shared compute infrastructure, functionality for user and team management, access control, and resource monitoring. It also allows for pooling and sharing of GPU resources, enabling customers to gain more from their compute investments.

NVIDIA plans to maintain Run:ai's products under the same business model for the immediate future and invest in its product roadmap as part of NVIDIA DGX Cloud, an AI platform co-engineered with leading clouds for enterprise developers. NVIDIA DGX and DGX Cloud customers will gain access to Run:ai's capabilities for their AI workloads, particularly for large language model deployments.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen NVIDIA's position in the AI market, enabling customers to have a single fabric that accesses GPU solutions anywhere. Customers can expect to benefit from better GPU utilization, improved management of GPU infrastructure, and greater flexibility from the open architecture.
