Amazon has announced the general availability of Amazon Q, a suite of generative AI tools designed to accelerate software development and leverage companies' internal data. The launch includes Amazon Q Business, a generative AI-powered assistant, and Amazon Q in QuickSight, a feature that empowers employees to be more data-driven and make better, faster decisions using company knowledge.
Amazon Q Business is a powerful tool that can answer questions, provide summaries, generate content, and securely complete tasks based on data and information in enterprise systems. The assistant connects to over 40 commonly used business tools, such as wikis, intranets, Atlassian, Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Slack, and Amazon S3, enabling users to access all their data regardless of where it resides in their organization.
Built with security and privacy in mind, Amazon Q Business integrates with existing identities, roles, and access permissions to personalize interactions for each user while maintaining high levels of security. It generates accurate responses based on enterprise information and allows customers to restrict sensitive topics, block keywords, and filter out inappropriate content.
AWS also introduced Amazon Q Apps, a groundbreaking capability that allows employees to quickly create generative AI-powered apps based on their company data, without requiring coding experience. Users can simply describe the app they want in natural language or take an existing conversation where Amazon Q Business helped solve a problem, and with one click, Q will generate a shareable app that accomplishes the desired task.
"Amazon Q is the most capable generative AI-powered assistant available today with industry-leading accuracy, advanced agents capabilities, and best-in-class security that helps developers become more productive and helps business users to accelerate decision making," said Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Artificial Intelligence and Data at AWS. "Since we announced the service at re:Invent, we have been amazed at the productivity gains developers and business users have seen."
Amazon says customers such as GoDaddy, National Australia Bank, Netsmart, Novacomp, Smartsheet, Sun Life, and Toyota Connected North America are already leveraging Amazon Q to streamline processes, accelerate development cycles, and boost employee productivity.
Amazon Q in QuickSight brings generative AI capabilities to AWS's cloud-based Business Intelligence (BI) service, allowing business analysts to use natural language to quickly build dashboards and create visualizations and complex calculations. It is the only BI product that offers AI-driven executive summaries, the ability to ask questions beyond presented data, and customizable data stories highlighting key insights and trends.
As businesses increasingly seek to harness the power of generative AI, Amazon Q Business and Amazon Q in QuickSight offer secure, scalable solutions that empower employees to be more creative, data-driven, and productive.
