Microsoft has released a standalone app for its AI-powered chatbot, Microsoft Copilot, on Android and iOS devices. The new app provides mobile access to Copilot's conversational abilities and creative features without requiring the Bing search engine app.
The Copilot app appeared on the Google Play Store about a week ago, without much fanfare, and is ow available on the iOS App Store. It enables users to chat with Copilot, generate images through the DALL-E model, and receive assistance drafting emails and documents.
Notably, while access to GPT-4 currently requires a paid subscription through OpenAI's ChatGPT, Microsoft's new Android app grants free access.
Copilot is a pioneering chat assistant from Microsoft powered by the latest OpenAI models, GPT-4 and DALL·E 3. These advanced AI technologies provide fast, complex, and precise responses, as well as the ability to create breathtaking visuals from simple text descriptions.
Chat and create all in one place—for free!
The release comes a little over a month after Microsoft rebranded its "Bing Chat" functionality to "Copilot". While Bing mobile apps still retain Copilot features, the new standalone app provides a streamlined interface focused solely on Copilot without traditional search capabilities or rewards programs.
With user-friendly mobile access and free high-end AI models, Microsoft hopes to entice people into its growing ecosystem of AI products spanning search, creativity, and productivity.
