AI Video Platform Colossyan Raises $22M to Expand Interactive Learning

Colossyan, a startup offering a text-to-video AI platform tailored for corporate training, has announced a $22 million Series A funding round. The London-based startup aims to transform traditional learning approaches with its interactive video technology.

The round was led by Lakestar, an investor known for backing innovative companies like Spotify and Revolut. Existing Colossyan investors Launchub, Day One Capital, and Emerge Education also participated.

Over the past year, Colossyan achieved remarkable 600% platform growth as per founder Dominik Mate Kovacs. Its customer roster now includes major companies like Novartis, Vodafone, and Paramount.

On average, Colossyan customers have realized 90% video production cost savings and 80% faster output with its AI-generated video approach compared to conventional filming. Sonesta's Director Kristin Broadhead noted the "ease of content update and cost savings are remarkable” with the platform.

The Colossyan platform utilizes generative AI to automate elements of video creation. Users simply input a script and the AI handles the rest - including realistic text-to-speech narration in 70+ languages.

To generate a video with Colossyan’s AI video platform, all you have to do is input a script and select from a diverse range of avatars. Colossyan’s AI selects fitting visual backgrounds and animates the human-like avatars to act out scenes. This alleviates the need for building video production sets or hiring actors.

Amid growing corporate eLearning video fatigue, Colossyan wants to pioneer more engaging, interactive learning formats.

The fresh capital will help expand its product, customer success, and community teams. Core features like advanced lip sync, editing upgrades, and enhanced avatar gestures are also slated.

Most interestingly, Colossyan plans new capabilities around quiz questions, knowledge checks, and adaptive learning paths. Kovacs shared that embedding structured interactivity directly into videos can "make the educational journey not only more engaging but also more effective."

Of course, Colossyan is hardly the only generative video startup out there. Competitors like Synthesia, CommonGround, and Surge provide robust solutions alongside offerings by Microsoft and others.

But Colossyan's specific focus on transforming corporate learning could be a differentiation. As Kovacs puts it, “for C-suite and IT department leaders, our platform represents a scalable, cost-efficient solution to training and development challenges.”

If Colossyan manages to successfully integrate more adaptive features and interactivity to boost engagement, it may carve out a substantive niche in workplace learning applications.
